What is LST (Liquid Staking Token)?

A tradeable receipt for staked SOL.

Staking SOL normally locks it. Liquid staking tokens (mSOL, jitoSOL and others) represent your staked position as a token you can trade or use in DeFi while still earning staking yield — the LST's value versus SOL slowly rises as rewards accrue.

Risks differ from plain staking: LST market price can deviate from its redemption value, and you take on the issuing protocol's smart-contract risk. See all tracked LSTs on our LST category page.
